POVERTY REPORT

Today, nearly 7,000 children are living on the streets of Guatemala.

Casa Bernabé has sought to be a model in residential care, providing comprehensive services to Guatemalan children who have been orphaned, abused, neglected, and are at risk. They have sought to set a high standard of care for their children meeting their emotional, physical, spiritual, academic, social, and cognitive needs.

As poverty continues to spread across Guatemala, the struggle to provide even basic needs becomes more severe, leaving children to bear the brunt of these hardships.

Why Defend the Vulnerable and Oppressed?

  • Our mission is deeply rooted in Psalm 82:3, which calls us to “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed." This biblical mandate calls us to stand up for the vulnerable and take action against injustice. As the body of Christ, we are called to be the hands and feet of justice, standing up for those who can’t defend themselves. Will you join us in this mission?

  • At the heart of our mission is a commitment to breaking the cycle of poverty in Guatemala. Education is the key to transforming lives, offering children the tools necessary to succeed. By providing quality education, we are not just opening doors to opportunities but also laying the foundation for the next generation of Guatemalans. Instead of leaving school to work, children will have the chance to raise their income, engage their intellectual curiosity, and live in a more stable society.

  • As a Christ-centered ministry, we are dedicated to breaking cycles of abuse, poverty, and neglect. Our children’s home is a place of safety and refuge for children in Guatemala, providing them with a model of what healthy family relationships are supposed to look like. Living in family is more than a tagline for Casa Bernabé. This is the foundation of our ministry. Family is what sets our ministry apart and where lasting transformation begins to happen.

  • For over four decades, Casa Bernabé has been leading the charge in empowering a new generation of Guatemalan children.  We are committed to transforming the lives of vulnerable children and families through a dignified standard of living, rooted in Biblical principles. This holistic approach fosters the development of productive individuals and stable families, who will, in turn, bless their communities and make a lasting impact on their nation.

Together, these efforts—guided by our biblical calling, focused on breaking the poverty cycle, restoring dignity, and empowering future leaders—create a powerful force for transformation in Guatemala. Will you stand with us?
