A Glimpse of the Holidays at Casa Bernabé
WRITTEN BY EMILY TUTTLE
No matter how a family comes to be, the holidays are a time to be together and spend time thanking God for his amazing provision. Christmas at Casa Bernabé is a special week of cooking, playing, celebrating, and resting. Here's a taste of how we celebrated this year!
On Christmas Eve, or Nochebuena, each house enjoys a delicious meal several days in the making. There are apple pies baked by Tony and the kids in the culinary program, racks of ribs, turkeys, fresh fruit, rice, bread, and other yummy sides. Our kitchen staff works wonders everyday, but they outdo themselves for Christmas. The long dining table in each house is packed with kids and our faithful staff members who love and care for them.
After dinner we clean up, and then it's time for soccer, games, and exchanging gifts. And no celebration in Guatemala is complete without fireworks! Please enjoy this video from one our house dads, Alejandro, of this year's celebrations.
We're so thankful for the birth of Jesus, for a safe place for our kids to grow and learn, and for each of you. Your love for this ministry, time spent in Guatemala, financial support, and faithful prayers are a huge blessing to our staff and kids, and we thank God for you and your families this holiday season.
