Casa David
To be fully funded monthly, each of our houses needs one house sponsor ($2,000) and twelve child and family sponsors ($120 each). Casa David currently has a house sponsor. To see how close Casa David is to reaching full funding from child and family sponsors, check the progress bar below.
Casa David’s house parents, Sergio and Vivian, began serving as house parents in 2024 after having previously served as the gate guards. They joined house helper, Luis, who also works at the school as the art teacher. Sergio and Vivian have two sons and one daughter who share their parents with a group of 10 boys from ages 7 to 17. They also have a dog named Dory, who keeps the boys entertained and gives them responsibility. The boys in this house are very active and can be found all across campus playing soccer, volleyball and basketball or playing on the playground. These boys need to be doing something at all times, and can become bored very easily, so Sergio often takes them to the woods on campus to explore. They play hide and seek, and are able to use their imagination pretending to be in the movie Indiana Jones. Vivian is one of the best cooks in Guatemala, and often prepares typical Guatemalan cuisine for the boys. She even finds ways for the boys to help and participate in the kitchen. During the week, the boys wind down playing various board games and card games. They love playing games that work the brain and help develop thinking skills. Weekends, however, are reserved for relaxing and watching movies. That is, until the boys get bored and want to play outside again. We are grateful for Sergio and Vivian and their endless energy they reserve for these boys.
