We Need Your Prayers and Support . . . Now More Than Ever!

It is the rainy season at Casa Bernabe. We are not getting light rains but heavy rains, which will pour for weeks. The kids are inside most of the time, not a lot of outdoor play right now. Electricity often is off for hours at a time. Due to the rain, many of the children are arriving late to school or completely drenched. There is no money for raincoats, umbrellas, or slickers; they make do the best they can. Many of the children have had respiratory sicknesses and colds, no doubt due to the weather and being stuck inside so much. The houses are short on food, milk, hot water. There is no money for extras that could make these rainy days easier. Yet, God is at work here in every one of the eight houses on campus and at the school. He is in the main building with the visiting teams. Just like any other day, you can feel God's love and see the miracles that seem to happen daily if not hourly.

Casa Bernabe is no doubt a bittersweet gift to God. To see how his family comes together from around North America to love and care for these little children is a miraculous gift in itself. However, to know the stories that brought each child here, and to realize that without all of us doing our part these children would have continued to be living on the streets; at the city dump; in homes that were unsafe; in situations that are unspeakable, certainly this must break God's heart.

Even with the miracles we see each day; we are being challenged financially to continue our work with these wonderful children. As the NA economy struggles, donations to CB are down 40%! This has affected our daily survival and support for the children that are in our care. Please pray for us to know how best to guide our efforts and find ways to offer the children all that God wants them to have.
